I want to paint the exterior of my house this summer....and I have been thinking really hard about color...the original color of this hut is white...but most of the houses in this town are white or some modern color of beige-brown...if they have been fixing up their house...boring!
I really want a neat color...and I have always loved red...I don't want a read house per se...but something close to it....
I was surfing the net the other day...came across this house...it looks a lot like mine...
I LOOOOVE the color...and LOOOOVE the white trim...
What do you think about a cranberry colored hut?
Love it!!!
ReplyDeleteAll for it! It will look fabulous!
ReplyDeleteMy dream house is white with black shutters and a bright red door. Or yellow - it is my favorite color and so dang happy.
I do like a whole cranberry colored house tho' - can't wait to see it. And your drawings are cute. :)
If you love it, that's all that matters! (But I secretly love it too!) ;0)
ReplyDeleteGO FOR IT! In our first house we painted our bedroom "Lipstick Red" it was HOT! And quite soothing to sleep in - I miss it so. We haven't really done much decorating wise in this house. Perhaps you will motivate us to get off the stick and make this house "OURS".... after all we've been here since 1996.
ReplyDeleteIt would be wonderful! Too bad you cant have that molding around the windows of that other house though...I love that molding...excuse me while I wipe myself down after drooling LOL.
ReplyDeleteThat says cottage to me. Love it
ReplyDeleteSandi
I love a red house! Our across-the-street neighbors are painting their house red and I'm so glad, since we are the ones who have to look at it!
ReplyDeleteDo it, love the color.
ReplyDeleteMichele
Hi Lisa,
ReplyDeleteIn my bias opinion, cranberry (aka red and also my most favorite color) is the only way to go. Our front door is cranberry, all the trim is cream and the shutters are forest green. The body of the house is red brick. We experimented with white trim but it just didn't look right with the cranberry, a little too stark. Can't wait to see the new color on your cottage.
Vanessa
Can't wait to see the finished product!! Love the cranberry red. There is a house down from ours that is close to that color with cream trim - gorgeous!!

I think...reddish, cranberry. Definite yes.
ReplyDeleteYou know my slogan: Go BIG or go home.
ReplyDeleteGo for the red. It will rise up to greet you every time you round the bend!

I LOVE the red! I do architectural renderings. Take a pic of your house and I will turn it red and put a porch on it for you so you can see how it looks if you like!
ReplyDeleteSusan (Bessemer)
That looks the "proper" colour for a wooden house to me - maybe because I'm European and when I think of wooden houses I think of Swedish ones, which are usually a sort of oxide red. This is actually even nicer. DEFINITELY a rich colour.
ReplyDeleteI am thrilled everyone likes the color! and Susan? I would love that!
ReplyDeleteNow I catch myself driving by the house down the street and thinking hmmmmmm..... maybe they should go with white!! LOL
ReplyDeleteHooked
Oh wait - Lisa - I do not think that you should paint it red. I have a MUCH better idea. Wait for it ... you know it is coming.... You should wallpaper the outside!! Perhaps - blue!! LOL
ReplyDeleteHooked
Ha! Susan just made me laugh. Wallpaper!
ReplyDeleteI vote for cranberry or barn red with off white or cream trim...and a hot fudge Sunday with whipped cream.
Donna
Hey everybody! She has been silent for a while. Who wants to bet she is actually painting the house right now. :)
ReplyDeleteHAHA - she could be!! I just hope she read my suggestion first!

Ha Ha you guys! NO WALLPAPER! LOL! but I will take the sundae with whip cream..hee hee! I am having issues with Blogger...sometimes it will let me on here and sometimes it won't...it has given me back some of my gadgets and today it will let me comment! I guess everyone is having issues! Hopefully will be back up and running soon!
ReplyDeleteI personally love houses with coloured siding or painted. There is a house down the street from me that is blue with white trim. Drives me crazy that their front door is white tough. I think it should be a shade of red or yellow to make it really stand out.
ReplyDeleteA lot of the homes in the Maritime's are brightly coloured and so cheerful. My hubs tells me that I would be perfectly at home there since I love colour. This coming from a gal who lives in a white house (it came that way LOL)
What?? You did not looove my idea Lisa? I am totally shocked!!
ReplyDeleteLOL
I am trying to find a way to go take a pic of the neighbor's house for you with out seeming like a stalker - and not the funny blog stalker way.
Keep us posted

Lisa:
ReplyDeleteHope all is well with you. Are you enjoying a hot July like we are having here in Windsor?
Lisa, longtime lurker here. Looking forward to seeing more of what you have been doing. Love that you have the ability of seeing beauty where others see junk. Hope all is well.
ReplyDeleteAnother Denise
If anyone hears from Lisa, would you have her contact me? I'm a bit worried but am hoping it's just that something may be wrong with the blog site & that she (and her hut) are just fine!

Lisa-Are you still painting the hut? Praying for you and yours...
ReplyDeleteHi all. I just got a quick message from Lisa, her computer in her words has a GINORMOUS virus and she is probably going to have to buy a new one, which may take a while. She has tried several times to have the virus removed.
ReplyDeleteSo she is fine - just computerless.
Hooked
I know from experience, once those things get hold of your computer it is only a matter of time. Unfortunately, we get viruses from searching lots of sites. Probably got it shopping or looking for new blogs. Facebook is a major source as well. Beware!
ReplyDeleteTell Lisa "Hi".
Donna
Susan, thanks for the update on Lisa. Sorry about her virus but thank goodnes it's the computer and not the human. Hope all is well soon.
ReplyDeleteAnother Denise
WELL? Is it red yet? ; )
ReplyDeleteyou know if everybody would donate Lisa a buck or two maybe she could get back on line!
ReplyDeleteLila
Mom!! Update!! :)
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know whether Lisa plans to get back to this blog when/if her computer problem is resolved? I admired her attitude, hard work, and accomplishments and miss being able to check in on her progress in her little piece of the American dream.
ReplyDeleteI understand that she will be back! I also miss her posts!
ReplyDeleteI hope she is back soon; I just found this blog and am SO enchanted by it. Maybe we could post a "donate" button to help her defray the expense of a "new" computer?
ReplyDeleteHey, Lisa. I'm starting a new garden ( moved to a new place) and came back to be refreshed with your garden from last year. I love, love, love your blog. Please consider an update to let us know you are okay. Certainly, there must be a library or something where you can use a computer ???? I hope all is well. If it is not, I am sure you will have the guts to carry on.
ReplyDelete~ Christie
P.S. Hey Lisa.... Have a really, really good day.
